As part of the continuous actions of the government in providing aid to farmers and fisherfolks, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. led the distribution of government assistance in a ceremony held at San Jose, Batangas, on July 11.
Atty. Marion Sevilla, Assistant Regional Director, and Batangas Provincial Director Predelma Tan of the Department of Labor and Employment IV-A, also graced the event and joined the release of fishing tools as livelihood packages to select parents of child laborers.
The families received raw materials and tools worth Php 29,944 to enhance their small fishing businesses in the town of Talisay, Batangas.
Aside from these packages, 5,569 TUPAD beneficiaries also received their salaries amounting to a total of Php 28,958,800.00 released through the distribution of transaction codes.
The Department also ensured the security of the participants in case of future unforeseen circumstances with insurance from the GSIS through its group personal accident insurance.
With these welfare programs of the DOLE, benefiting families not only receive assistance but also hope that the governance of the current administration reinforces its programs to prevent and mitigate the effects of various environmental and economic challenges to farmers and fisherfolks.
