To promote the welfare of the family as an essential factor in workplace productivity, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 4A through its Batangas Provincial Office conducted a Family Welfare Program (FWP) Orientation to workers and management representatives of Star Tollway Corporation held at Brgy. Tambo, Lipa City, Batangas, January 16.
According to Senior Labor and Employment Officer, Ms. Cristina Barayang, their orientation focused on tackling the 10 key dimensions of the FWP including Responsible Parenthood, Gender and Development, Spiritual and Values formation, Livelihood Development, Medical and Health Care, Nutrition, Environmental Protection, Sanitation and Hygiene, Sports, and Leisure, Housing, and Transportation.
For the participants, the discussion shared the topics that they found essential in maintaining their work-life balance.
“Isa po sa mga natutunan ko sa amin pong meeting ngayon ay doon po sa gender equality. Kailangan po na pantay pantay po yung pagtingin, hindi lang po ng company kundi ‘yung empleyado sa bawat isa…Mahalaga po ang Family Welfare Program sa amin po…kasi isa po ‘yun sa mga basic na pangangailangan namin po bilang isang empleyado,” Mr. Leo Padilla, rank-and-file employee remarked.
Union and management representatives also shared the essence of realizing the FWP in their company.
“Para naman sa livelihood program, nagagalak ako at ako’y interesado para sa lahat ng mga nagtatrabaho rito sa Star Toll,” Mr. Renato Castillo, union representative said.
For Mr. Vincent Banta, management representative, the FWP will not only protect the welfare of the families but also the workers of the company. “Para mapangalagaan ang bawat employee ng kompanya and then magkaroon ng magandang samahan sa kompanya,” he shared.
A total of 20 workers, management, and union representatives joined the orientation. Aside from the aforementioned topics, DOLE representatives also shared the newly published Labor Advisory No. 01-23 about Food and Waterborne Disease Prevention and Control in the Workplace.
DOLE Batangas aims to conduct more FWP Orientation encouraging companies to institutionalize the program for the benefit of their workers and families.
