FORMER SECURITY GUARD RECEIVES P137K WORTH OF MONETARY CLAIMS THROUGH DOLE’S SENA

For 12 years, a 39-year-old worker rendered service as a security guard under an agency located in Lipa City, Batangas.

Aggrieved about the underpayments he received for the past three years, the worker sought the assistance of the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office IV-A - Batangas Provincial Office last January 5.

“Nakaranas po kasi ako ng pamamalakad na hindi tama para sa isang security guard. Pasahod, overtime, night differential, nababayaran pero kulang. Gusto ko pong makuha ‘yung kulang na pasahod. “Unang una ginagawa naman po namin nang tama ang trabaho namin. May pamilya kami, kaya gusto namin na makuha ang sapat na kita sa tamang trabaho namin. Nasa batas naman po ang sadyang aking nirereklamo,” he narrated.

Through the Single Entry Approach (SEnA) Program of the DOLE, the worker, his employer SENA Desk Officer, Ms. Ann Jelyn Natividad held their first conference last January 9 to tackle the issues raised in the request for assistance.

After the mediation, on February 5 his employer settled the monetary claims amounting to a total of Php 137,700.00 for the underpayment of salaries, night shift differential payment, overtime pay, holiday pay, 13th-month pay, and the refund of his cash bond.

“Agad naman akong inasikaso ni Ma’am Ann Jelyn…Neutral lang, wala siyang pinapanigan. Nagpapasalamat po ako kasi ‘yung aking request ay nagawan n’yo ng malinaw na paraan,” the worker shared.

With this experience under the SEnA, he believed in DOLE’s commitment to providing speedy, impartial, and inexpensive settlement services through the conciliation-mediation procedure of the program.

“‘Wag po silang magdalawang isip na dumulog sa DOLE at matutulungan naman po sila,” he emphasized.

e-SENA is a free online facility of DOLE that receives requests for conciliation mediation before becoming full-blown disputes.
