To enhance the employability of the beneficiaries, the Department of Labor and Employability IV-A - Batangas Provincial Office conducted a series of learning sessions on core skills and labor laws for government interns stationed under the Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP) that concluded last December 11.

During the three-day culminating activity, Senior Labor and Employment Officers, Ms. Cristina Barayang and Ms. Mirasol Celemin lectured about worker’s rights and labor standards, respectively.

Aside from those matters, the participants also learned the significance of a safe and healthy workplace, a knowledge they found beneficial as they embarked on their professional careers be it in public or private establishments.

Prior to the culminating activity, the DOLE spearheaded the first leg of the lectures which was a five-day training session from November 21 to 27 wherein the speakers delved into core skills including personality development and building the foundation for becoming a successful employee.

Moreover, the discussions also comprised discussions on work competencies such as good work ethics and habits as well as effective oral communication.

To test the participants' improvement and learning, they created interactive outputs such as videos, essays, and other materials showcasing their reflections and assignments.

According to Ms. Hazel Mae Hernandez, one of the participating interns, the learning session improved her interpersonal skills which can also aid her in her current and future roles.

“Binuksan nito ang aking isipan sa iba’t ibang mga bagay. It also changed my perception of life, the way I think, the way I act, and the way I communicate and socialize with others,” Ms. Hernandez shared.

Ms. Tricia Mae Tiamsim also shared the same sentiments and reflected on the vastness of knowledge for them as a new entrant to the world of work.

“Bilang isang kabataan, marami pa pala akong dapat patunayan at pagdaanan sa buhay. Sa training na ito, mas nagkaroon ng liwanag at goal para sa aking sarili,” she remarked.

To formally cap their journey, the interns presented their digital journals and underwent a mock interview with the assessment about their stint with the different units of the Department.

Through the activities, the interns under the Government Internship Program of the DOLE learned significant skills that can enhance their employability which will be beneficial as future practitioners of their respective fields of expertise.
